Leon Prince, 21, did not appear at Tamworth Local Court when his case was called earlier this week, but Aboriginal Legal Service solicitor Joseph Healy asked for a hearing date to be set.
Prince is accused of having a knife in a public place; possessing a prohibited weapon; and being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
On a previous occasion Prince claimed the alleged set of 'knuckledusters' was actually a double-banded ring, the court heard.

"It's a partial brief at this stage; my instructions are to ask for a hearing date," Mr Healy said.
He told the court the hearing could take up to two hours.
Ms Soars set the hearing date for July and ordered Prince to appear via video link from custody.
The police case is that Prince was stopped by officers on Scott Road in Tamworth just after 5am on March 31, while the accused was still on parole.
Officers allege the young man had a knife with him as well as what was thought to be knuckledusters. Police also allege they found suspected stolen goods.
Prince was briefly granted bail in the month after the arrest on March 31, but returned to custody earlier this month.
The 21-year-old has a number of other charges before the court.
His lawyer made no application for bail when Prince's matters went before the court earlier this week.
"Bail not applied for, refused," magistrate Julie Soars said.
The case was adjourned to July for hearing.
