The New England Highway at Bartons Lane, about 20 minutes south of Tamworth, was closed for about an hour on Wednesday morning as emergency services responded to a car crash.
The highway has since reopened and no further delays have been reported.

TWO PEOPLE have been rushed to hospital after a crash between two cars and a truck on the New England Highway near Tamworth on Wednesday.
Highway traffic is affected in both directions about 20 minutes south of Tamworth and emergency services are still at the scene.
Ambulance paramedics responded to reports of a crash between two cars and a truck on the highway, near Bartons Lane, about 9am on Wednesday.

Two patients were treated at the scene for their injuries and a specialist medical team was flown in by helicopter.
A spokesman for Ambulance NSW said one person was being treated for minor injuries and a second person was reportedly suffering chest and head injuries.
The spokesman confirmed both patients were taken to Tamworth hospital by ambulance for further treatment and were in a stable condition.
Both lanes of the highway were closed for about an hour on Wednesday morning while the wrecks are salvaged, and police remained at the scene of the crash.
Live Traffic NSW updates show alternate traffic flow has been put in place on the New England Highway at the scene of the crash, with traffic taking it in turns to pass.
Motorists have been asked to drive carefully.
