Lauren McGill named a finalist at 2021 NSW Community Sports Awards

McGill is a finalist in the Young Official of the Year category which comes after a big 12 months.

The umpire started officiating grade cricket during the 2019/20 TDCA season and stepped up to umpire Connolly Cup clashes this season just gone.

Along with her Connolly debut, the up-and-comer went to Sydney in November last year where she umpired women's first and second grade cricket matches.

She made the most of the opportunity, soaking up all the knowledge she could alongside the more experienced umpires while putting her best foot forward.

"It was good to be seen by a few umpires down there and put my name in the mix," she said.

The winners of the NSW Community Sports Awards will be revealed at a special ceremony on Thursday, June 17.

The presentation ceremony will be hosted by the Hon. Dr Geoff Lee MP, Acting Minister for Sport, who will also present the recipients of the Sport NSW Distinguished Long Service Award with special recognition for their exceptional service to sport.
