Two men who allegedly fired at police during a 45-minute long early-morning pursuit through the streets of Tamworth, Nemingha, Calala and Kootingal have been arrested.

The long chase began when police attempted to pull over the 28-year-old and 22-year-old at about 2.45am on Saturday morning, according to police.
The duo were only halted when police road spikes forced their car to crash into the fence of the Tamworth Golf Club, and they were run down by officers from the Oxley Police District, police claim.

They were originally intercepted in a Ford Territory while leaving a fast food restaurant on Marius street.
But the car allegedly failed to stop after police tried to pull them over while heading along the New England Highway.
Police pursued them in a chase that spanned the suburbs of Calala, Nemingha, Kootingal and Tamworth.
Police claim that during the pursuit a passenger was seen to lean out a window and allegedly point a gun at police. Later examination of an unmarked police car showed bullet marks in the bonnet and windscreen.
The chase finally ended when police deployed road spikes.
The Ford Territory crashed through the fence of the Tamworth Golf Club on Duri Road at about 3.30am.
Police allege the occupants tried to flee the scene of the accident, but police caught and arrested them.
The men were taken into custody at the Tamworth Police Station.
Police claim they discovered a shortened firearm next to the car's front passenger seat in a search of the vehicle. The older man was found in possession of ammunition, police claim.
No charges have been laid at this stage.
