A STORM rumbled into Tamworth in the early hours of Tuesday morning and brought booming thunder, lightning and rain.

About 9.4mm of the wet stuff was dumped at the Tamworth airport Burea of Meteorology (BoM) weather station.
Data from overnight shows the rain first started about 3am, and most of the rain had fallen by 7am.

Some locals reported different totals in their backyard rain gauges, with one Westdale resident clocking 10.2mm and a South Tamworth local recording 8.5mm.
One East Tamworth resident missed out on the patchy rain brought by the thunderstorm and only reported about 5mm.
The wet and gloomy weather could continue for Tamworth today, with the BoM predicting a very high chance of more showers from late morning.
The BoM warned there could be another thunderstorm roll through today and it could possibly be severe.
The wild weather is expected to ease off later this afternoon and evening.
Gunnedah didn't miss out on the storm either, with the town's BoM weather station recording 7.2mm of rain overnight.
