POLICE have released CCTV of a vehicle of interest believed to be connected to a suspicious fire that destroyed millions of dollars worth of pine plantation near Tamworth in 2019.

Police believe the fire that ripped through an estimated $2 to $3 million worth of pine in the hills near Nundle and Hanging Rock was deliberately lit on or about October 27.
It destroyed more than 1300 hectares, more than half of which was pine plantation, and took significant manpower from both Forest Corporation and NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers to control.
After extensive investigations and information about the possible ignition point, Oxley detectives have uncovered the CCTV image of a maroon Toyota Hilux in the Nundle area.
At the time police believed members of the community may have been protecting the identity of the person who deliberately lit the fire.

Oxley detectives and the Forensic Evidence and Technical Services Command have been working together to find clues into who sparked the fire.
Investigators made a breakthrough in the case, and on Thursday released an image which they hope could be prompt someone to come forward.
Detectives urge anyone with information about the vehicle or its occupants to come forward.
In addition, police are looking for anyone who may have had a 1000L IBC water tank lost or stolen on the Nundle Road between Woolomin and the Nundle and River roads intersection between October 25 and 27.
