Tamworth Anzac Day: Whiskey's Wish motorbike riders travelled across the region to commemorate day and raise money

Riders gathered for a barbecue brekky followed by a bagpipes performance and a minute of silence for Australian soldiers, before heading up the highway for a day out.

Tamworth's Brendon Clarke and Ross Allan clocked 106 registrations at this year's event.

The group managed to raise $3262 for foundation Whiskey's Wish, which helps train service dogs for troubled veterans and other emergency service workers.

"It's about getting everyone together on a day that commemorates the Anzacs, so with the limitations of COVID it was a great way to benefit an organisation that can benefit veterans going forward and not just on the day of Anzac Day," Mr Clarke told the Leader.

"We had every type of bike come along; there were adventure bikes, road bikes, Harleys, a good variety."

Organisers got local sponsors on board and held raffles on their journey to help get more coin, after taking off from their Tamworth meeting point.

"We went to Nundle to the Anzac ceremony up there ... then headed down to Murrurundi to the Royal Hotel, we stayed there for lunch and had a raffle and then headed back to the Nemingha Tavern," Mr Clarke said.

"The scenery was good, it was good to see the country so nice and green and the temperature was perfect.

"I spoke to people that had come over from Gunnedah and we had people from down Newcastle way, from Maitland, and even Inverell."

The annual Anzac ride was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.
