The side entered the third and final day searching for their first win in the playoff for ninth.
It wasn't to be with North West going down 81-75 but Beresford said the players improved each day.
"The other team was Riverina. They were pretty similar in terms of their drawing pool. It was good to see both of us compete with the bigger regions," Beresford said.
North West lost Isaac Jones to a knee injury on day one and by the final day the rest of the side were feeling the effects of three days of basketball.
"They were all pretty busted," Beresford said.
Beresford thanked all the officials and organisers of the event, making special mention of Peter Yeo, Craig Long and John Ireland for their efforts. In the gold medal match, Sydney North defeated Hunter 81-71.
