Project officer Krystle Lamb said the Bumbira art and culture program would help to improve the "social and emotional wellbeing of women and children in our community".
"At schools there's a lot of cultural pathways that you can go down and a lot of people that can share that in schools," she said.
"In community there's not so much.
"So, I suppose I'm wanting to reduce that gap that's in between community and schools, especially with language. The language side of it is really important."

The Bumbira arts and culture program held its first mums and bubs group meeting on Tuesday, with the beginning of school term two. It will be held every Tuesday during term at their new premises on Darling street.
Participants don't have to be Gomeroi, with the Tuesday sessions open for mothers of all cultures in Tamworth.
Ms Lamb said it's an exciting time to be working in Gomeroi language education in Tamworth.
A language reference group founded at the start of 2021 has started work to get the traditional language into every classroom in the city.
"People are wanting to connect to culture, they're wanting to know. And that is really exciting," she said.
