Tamworth in particular was a hive of activity with a range of squads trialling, training and playing in town.
The NIAS rugby league program held trials on Saturday and Sunday for boys and girls.
It is the first time a girls program has been run and both squads are expected to be announced in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, the 'Cycling NSW' MTB squad kicked off their program on Saturday at Mount Borah while the 'Athletics NSW' athletics program had their first training session on Sunday at the Tamworth Athletics Track.
NIAS FC athletes also hit the field on Sunday with the under 15s and under 14s Northern League 1 teams hosting matches against New Lambton FC at the Gipps Street Playing Fields.
Lastly, NIAS sent two netball teams, two basketball teams, two hockey teams, the golf squad and a triathlete to compete in the 2021 Academy Games in Newcastle on the weekend.
