Andrew Robert Gillebaard appeared in Tamworth Local Court via video link from Long Bay jail in Sydney for his mention, with his father was in court to support him.
Gillebaard has been charged with break-and-enter and destroy property worth more than $60,000; and damaging property by fire that's worth more than $5000, after a blaze broke out in the doctors surgery in the Robert Street Shopping Centre arcade in the early hours of January 26.
Some of the details of the case cannot be reported for legal reasons.

Gillebaard has been in custody since his arrest later that day, and has not been required to enter pleas to the charges.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Rebecca Skivington told the court the brief of evidence against Gillebaard was almost finished, and asked for the case to be adjourned for the last piece to be added.
"Just one item is outstanding, it is in relation to the cost of the damage," she said.
"The detective is having discussions with the complainants and that should be ready in four weeks."
Magistrate Julie Soars adjourned the matter to next month, and ordered the brief of evidence to be served beforehand.
Gillebaard has been getting medical treatment in hospital while in custody, and appeared via video link wearing a hospital gown.
Ms Soars said she noticed the gown and asked if Gillebaard was getting good treatment for his health conditions while at Long Bay.
"He is going much better," Legal Aid solicitor Patricia Simpson said.
The court heard the brief of evidence must be marked compliant before it can proceed.
"Thank you, Your Honour," Gillebaard replied.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
