Tamworth what's on: Nundle Country Picnic at Woollen Mill to showcase local talent and produce on Sunday, April 18

All the local produce and talent Nundle has to offer will be on show at the weekend, when locals roll out their picnic rugs and settle in at the annual Nundle Country Picnic.

Everything from homemade pickles and salads to lamb grown in the hills outside the village will be served up for lunch, while the coolest woolly winter fashions will be showcased to a soundtrack of live local musicians.

The picnic will be held at the grounds of the Nundle Woollen Mill on Sunday, and owner Nick Bradford said locals were excited to show off the town to tourists.

The picnic was cancelled last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and the town that thrives on visitors and day-trippers were devastated early on in the lockdown.

"This is going to be a a really positive and upbeat event, Nundle is looking as beautiful as it ever could and the sun will be out," Mr Bradford said.

"We were desperate for the event to go ahead to keep Nundle high on the radar ... Nundle survives on tourism and we need people to keep coming."

A strong team of entrepreneurs - including local farmers, producers, retail store owners and hospitality workers - have teamed up to put on the picnic on a day set to be "magical".

"That's something we do here in Nundle very well, all the businesses in Nundle work together happily ... for a common cause," Mr Bradford said.

Mr Bradford said business had boomed again since restrictions eased last year, but hosting the first event back would help get Nundle on the bucket-list again.

"When we closed from the end of March it was disastrous ... but since the long weekend in June it has been extraordinary," he said.

"You can come here and feel comfortable that all the businesses and events we have will be taking all the precautions we need to."

The Nundle Country Picnic is on from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday April 18, at Nundle Woollen Mill.

Tickets for both adults must be booked by Friday afternoon and can be found at 2021 Nundle Country Picnic - Sticky Tickets.

People need to bring their own drinks, shade, chair or picnic rug.
