Warialda's Liliana Reardon, 16, Bingara's Brooke McKinnon, 17, and Narrabri's Martha Harvey, 17, inducted into the NSW academy of the National 7's Program

Warialda's Liliana Reardon, 16, Bingara's Brooke McKinnon, 17, and Narrabri's Martha Harvey, 17, were recently inducted into the NSW academy of the National 7's Program, and are continuing the strong reputation of rugby 7's in the Central North rugby region.

The three athletes form the North West Satellite training group, and are under the immediate watch of local Central North coach Dale Beattie from Warialda High.

There are only three hubs across NSW, with the main program in Sydney, one at Newcastle University and one in Central North.

Beattie said that the program aims to reduce the travelling time for the country girls, to keep them at their local schools and communities, bridging the gap between rural and metropolitan players, recognising "how strong this region and how highly the women's program is valued".

"The idea of Satellite groups are not new and in the past, something similar was run to help support the likes of Rhiannon Byers, current member of the Aussie 7's side, and Ashleigh Walker, current member of the Wallaroos World Cup squad. Hopefully, the next generation will excel at the same level."
