Brendon William Anderson accused of commercial drug supply after New England Highway car stop near Glen Innes

Brendon William Anderson was allegedly in possession of the drug haul when officers stopped the Ford Territory he was driving on the New England Highway.

New England highway patrol officers intercepted the Territory travelling south, about 8km north of Glen Innes about 9.30am on March 19.

Police said the car was stopped for a random traffic stop before the 40-year-old driver returned a positive roadside drug test.

Officers then claim checks revealed the man's licence was suspended, and they searched the car.

Inside, they uncovered what they claim is a quantity of magic mushrooms, cannabis, cocaine, methylamphetamine, and other drug paraphernalia.

Police claim a 17-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Territory was also found in possession of methylamphetamine.

Both were arrested and taken to Glen Innes Police Station. There, police allege the man provided a positive result for cocaine and methylamphetamine in an oral fluid test. The results have been sent for drug analysis.

He was charged with supplying a commercial quantity of drugs; supplying an indictable quantity of drugs; four counts of possessing a prohibited drug; driving while suspended; and breach of bail.

The man was refused bail by police before an appearance in an out-of-sessions bail hearing.

He's since been granted conditional bail in court. On Monday, during an appearance in Armidale Local Court, Anderson was not required to enter pleas to the charges.

Police have been ordered to compile a brief of evidence into the case.

Magistrate Mal MacPherson adjourned the case for May, and continued Anderson's bail.

Anderson faces two separate counts of drug possession which were also adjourned with the new matters to May.

Police said the teenage girl was cautioned under the Young Offenders Act for drug possession.
