According to Narwan Gold's winning captain Dennis Moran, the real winner of Saturday's Narwan Eels Knockout was the community.

After ploughing through a muddy and boggy Moran Oval to claim an 8-6 win over the Johnboy Quinlin Memorial team in the final, Moran hailed the event a success with hundreds coming through the gates.
"At the end of the day it is all about community, it is not about us," he said.

"We are just here to put on a display for them.
"It wasn't really about our Narwan side, it was more about coming together as a community than anything."
Sixteen teams turned up to compete for $10,000 of prizemoney on offer but it was two Armidale-based teams, admittedly with a handful of ring-ins from other towns, who battled for glory in the final.
Narwan Gold got on the board early in the match through John Roberts before the JBQ team hit back via Mark Walker, Eddie Pitt adding the extras.
Then it was a slugfest in the mud. It took until the final minute, when Ash Widders crossed for a try, to seal the win 8-6 in favour of Narwan.
"That's the passion that comes out with young and old from both sides," Moran said of the exciting finish to the final.
