LOCALS who use Elizabeth Drive may need to detour for two to three weeks after a broken private water line has damaged the road.

Tamworth Regional Council advised residents on Tuesday afternoon of the road closure, which impacts the east and west Catherine Way entries of Elizabeth Drive.

Only residents who live on this section of the road will be permitted to access the area.
Catherine Way is unaffected, and detours around the site.
The council said repairs to the pipeline and road could possibly extend for two to three weeks.
"Please drive with care," a council spokesperson said.
