NORTH West residents were pleasantly surprised to wake up to the 'pitter patter' of raindrops on their roof this morning, with some of the highest figures in the state occurring within the region overnight.

A line of thunderstorms saw good rainfall figures occur across the region, particularly at Gunnedah and Boggabri.
The Bureau of Metereology (BOM) recorded 56mm at Gunnedah airport in the 24 hours leading up to 9am Tuesday - the third highest in the state.
The second highest totals in the region were recorded at Breeza Station, with 55.6mm, followed by Kibah Carroll (53.8mm), Boggabri (52mm) and Narrabri airport (48.8mm).
Tamworth also received some of the wet stuff, with the gauge at Tamworth airport recording 26mm and neighboring Duri/Dungowan reporting a pleasant 37mm.

Over the range the rain band weakened, with little rain occurring across the tablelands.
Inverell had just 6.8mm fall, while Armidale recorded a meager 3mm.
There remains a very good possibility of rain within the region today, with a 90 per cent chance of showers on the southern slopes, and a 60 per cent elsewhere.
The chance of rain drops back to 20 per cent tomorrow, which will see temperatures rise again across the region.
According to the BOM, daytime maximum temperatures are predicted to hit 23 to 31 across the North West Slopes and Plains on Tuesday before the weather warms up later in the week, peaking in the mid-30s by Friday.
