The three-year-old cat escaped her home in Tamworth on December 30, making her way to Belconnen where a Canberran found her on Sunday looking a little worse for wear.
Luna was reported as a stray with an injury on her head and handed to Belconnen Veterinary Centre.
Perhaps she was seeking a new year adventure. Maybe she accidentally lost her way.
"As we hope with all our intakes, this precious girl is microchipped," the Canberra Street Cat Alliance said.
"But sadly her microchip was not registered with the microchip database.
"Well you can imagine [team member] Nikki's surprise when the owner told her that Luna went missing from ... Tamworth! How on earth did this girl travel over 700kms to the ACT?"
Regardless, her NSW family was overjoyed to hear their precious furry friend was found alive and well.
Finding the Tamworth family wasn't an easy process but the team at Belconnen Veterinary Centre did all they could to locate them.

Luna was microchipped but she wasn't registered with a database.
However, after some collaboration with the registry, Canberra Street Cat Alliance were able to find the details for Luna's family, and were shocked to hear she had travelled from so far away.
On Monday, the indoor cat will begin her long journey home, this time by car, meeting her family in the middle at Newcastle.
"Tonight we have spoken to Luna's family who are so excited to hear their beautiful girl is alive and well, although [seven] hours away," the alliance said in its social media post.
"She is [three] years old, a completely indoor car who escaped on 30th December. Her family are thrilled and so keen to have their girl back, they were jumping straight in their car to begin the long journey this evening.
"As luck would have it, we have been able to arrange transport to Newcastle tomorrow for Luna, saving her family [four] hours' travel time."
The alliance team was thrilled to play a part in reuniting Luna with her loving family and wished her safe travels from the national capital to the country music capital.
