A 72-YEAR-OLD man has been airlifted to Tamworth hospital after his hang glider crashed north of Tamworth on Wednesday afternoon.

It is understood the man had taken off from Mount Borah, near Manilla, and was coming into land when the accident occurred.
Ambulance NSW paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter rushed to the scene of the crash in a paddock near Tarpoly, just after 3pm on Wednesday.

An Ambulance NSW spokesperson told the Leader three paramedic crews and the chopper's critical care team treated the 72-year-old for suspected injuries to his arm and head, along with a potential spinal injury.
He was stabilised for transport and flown to Tamworth hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter, where he will get further treatment.
It is understood the man was in a stable condition at the time.
