Michael Long found safe in Copeton Dam area after being reported missing

Acting Inverell Officer-in-Charge, Cameron Paine, said Michael Long was found in the area around Copeton Waters State Park at about 1.50pm on Saturday, where he was taken to hospital for treatment.

Acting Inspector Paine said police conducted a large-scale search for the young man, and family members helped too.

He said it was a cooperative effort between NSW Police using trail bikes and boats, alongside the SES, the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association, the RFS, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Long went missing from the area at about 10pm on January 7.

His family reported him missing to New England Police District officers on January 8.
