A teenager has been arrested after breaking and entering into a Tamworth pool store and trying to steal confectionary.

At around 6am on Sunday, the 19-year-old allegedly broke into the South and West Tamworth War Memorial Swimming Pool next to Scully Park in Kent Street.
An employee who was there at the time, became aware of the would-be thief's presence in the store front and called police immediately.
The teenager from West Tamworth attempted to steal food items, including a number of Zombie Chews.

Police arrived with the man still at the scene, where he was arrested and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling with intent to steal.
He will face Tamworth Local Court at a later date.
