A report is being prepared for the coroner after a man was killed when a car and two trucks collided north of Armidale yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway, about 20km north of Armidale, just after 5pm, following reports of a three-vehicle crash.
Police have been told a Toyota Hilux utility travelling south collided with the trailer of a northbound truck, before colliding with a second truck.
The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, a 19-year-old man, died at the scene.
The truck drivers, two men - aged 52 and 57 - were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.
The older man was later taken to Armidale Hospital for further treatment.
Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The road has been reopened to traffic.

A MAN is fighting for life after a head-on crash on the New England Highway this afternoon.
The highway is closed about 10km north of Armidale after the crash involving a dual-cab ute and a truck, police confirmed.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said a man, believed to be aged in his fifties, is in a critical condition.
He was treated at the scene for serious injuries and has been rushed to Armidale hospital.

Police said initial reports suggested two people were trapped in the crash. Five ambulances were deployed and remain on scene.
The road remains closed near Sunnyside Road, and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
The RMS said diversions are in place, but motorists should prepare for a 90-minute delay in travel time.
Northbound motorists are being diverted onto Waterfall Way at Armidale, then Guyra Road at Ebor to return to the New England Highway at Guyra.
The same diversions is in place in reverse for southbound motorists.
The RMS said motorists are urged to avoid the area, and allow about one-and-a-half hours for the diversion.
Emergency services remain at the scene.
