TWO new police recruits are set to his the local beat from Monday after graduating in a huge ceremony at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

One officer will take up a position in Moree as part of the New England area, while another officer is set to join the ranks in the Oxley Police District.
The pair were part of the 189-strong class 344 but the pass out parade included all officers who graduated in the 'Classes of 2020' that missed out on the official proceedings because of COVID restrictions.
"Firstly, I note our latest recruit will be the 13th officer posted to the police district in the past 12 months, making it lucky for us," Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said.

"Police put their lives on the line every day to protect our community and I thank and congratulate each and every one of these officers for choosing to join the Force, I wish them all a long and successful career.
"To secure 46 new officers in two years is an enormous boost to the police ranks in our region and has contributed to falling crime rates across our region."
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said that COVID-19 restrictions prevented the 2020 attesting classes from experiencing a full attestation parade like all other police recruits that passed before them.
"It has been a challenging year for the state of NSW and police have taken on an extraordinary role in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic threat, alongside the other critical issues we have faced this year," he said.
"The 2020 recruits have undertaken their studies during COVID restrictions, and this too has presented some distinctive challenges. I feel confident they've got what it takes to face any emerging issues ahead."
