Peter James Williams had to be muted on screen in Tamworth Local Court this week after yelling and swearing down the camera at magistrate Julie Soars.
Legal Aid solicitor Patricia Simpson said her hands were tied and she "can't get instructions".
"He will not speak to me on the phone," she told the court.

Williams, 37, is being held in custody at Tamworth Correctional Centre on one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
"There was no f****** assault," he yelled at the video link, after walking into the AVL room.
Ms Soars tried to calm the accused and told him she would order a brief in the matter to progress it.
"No f****** brief ... where's my f****** medication," he yelled.
After slamming his hands on the table, and hurling his runners at the camera, prison officers intervened and he was taken out of the AVL room.
Ms Soars said "the only way forward is for me to enter a judicial plea of not guilty" which she said would ensure "some progress should be made in this matter, because he's in custody".
"As previously discussed, no application for bail today because you're unable to get some instructions," Ms Soars said, also ordering an "urgent medication review".
Police have been ordered to serve a brief in the case before the case returns to court in mid-January.
"It does seem to me that he's not accepting the elements of the offence by his comments," Ms Soars said.
Police claim a verbal argument unfolded about 8.30am on November 10 at the Dowell Street property in East Tamworth.
It's the police case that Williams allegedly assaulted the pregnant woman, and during the struggle, she fell down a flight of stairs.
The woman went to a neighbouring unit and emergency services were alerted.
Paramedics treated the woman for lacerations to her elbows and back pain, and she was taken to Tamworth hospital for medical treatment, and later released.
Williams was arrested at the scene and has been in custody since.
