The former Chris Waller-trained Anubis may contest a Highway after winning a Class 1 Handicap (1200m) at Quirindi's TAB meeting on Sunday.

The top weight, now trained by Tamworth's Sue Grills and ridden by apprentice Yvette Lewis, beat the Jane Clement-trained Time For Don (Luke Cumberland) by half a length in the $22,000 race.

Grills was handed the four-year-old gelding after he had one win in 10 starts under Waller, best known for training wonder mare Winx.
It was Anubis's first start under Grills after he returned from a 26-week spell to win a trial over 1000m at Armidale on November 8.
"It was a good win," Grills said of Sunday's effort.
"He had a very big weight [61.5kg after Lewis's two-kilogram claim] ... It was 1200m first up, so I knew he'd be knocking up a bit at the finish, which he did. But he had enough in him."
Anubis, by Foxwedge out of Vitex, now has two wins from 11 starts for $52,000 in prize money. He paid $5 for the win on Sunday.
The Melanie O'Gorman-trained Baiandbai (Casey Waddell) was third - 1.66 lengths behind the winner.
