The even younger Steve Wilson helped out with 20 and 59-year-old Wally Hammond also making a return as he blasted his way to 32 retired. Tamworth finished their innings on 185.
Central Coast started cautiously against the older openers Ben Van Aanholt and Greg Kellett who had Central Coast 2-20 off 10 overs.
Mark Falkenmire then took over to pick up two wickets.
Hammond finished off his game taking 5-5 off four overs, ably assisted by wicketkeeper Bronte Reed pulling off two legside stumpings.
Central Coast were all out for 87. Another of the highlights was the fielding despite a couple of dropped catches. There was probably 20 to 30 runs saved in the field. It was a great effort by the younger brigade for helping out.
In Armidale, the over 65s started their campaign in Armidale against Southern Highlands.
Highlands scored 135 from 32 overs.
Graham Moore, Chriss Crowell and Peter Boyd all took one wicket each.
In reply, Tamworth just fell short when they were all out for 130. Chriss Crowell (23), David Amos (28) and Ian Kitching (21) were the main contributors.
They bounced back on day two with a win over Western Wildfire.
The Western side finished on 4-116 with David Amos being the pick of the Tamworth bowlers.
He was at his economical best finishing with 2-13 from seven overs.
Tamworth's top order made a string of starts before the lower order pair of Graham Moore (25*) and John Martin (27) did the main damage.
Tamworth went on to win with five wickets in hand.
The over 65s had the day off on Wednesday but are back in action today taking on Port Jackson.
