The gelding has a trial under his belt following a performance his trainer Cody Morgan described as "really good".
Anethole may have finished ninth in the Kosciuszko but finished just 3.1 lengths off the winner after running on from the back of the field.
"If he'd drawn a barrier, he'd have run top four," Morgan said.
"He had the best sectional from the 800 to 200 in the race - even better than the winner [Brett Cavanough's It's Me]. I don't think he would have beaten the winner but I think we would have ran third of fourth. It was a terrific effort."

Anethole will line up in race four - the Guardian Safety Solutions 3YO and 4YO Benchmark 72 Handicap - at Newcastle's The Hunter meeting.
Morgan said the four-year-old gelding had "come along really well" but also noted Saturday's race was a strong one.
Apprentice Reece Jones has been booked to ride which will give Anethole some weight relief to the tune of three kilograms - meaning Anethole will carry 53.5kg.
Morgan said he would have went down the Highway Handicap path if Anethole was eligible but the gelding hasn't had enough races for Morgan to be eligible. He didn't count the chestnut gelding out of the contest this weekend, though.
"A lot of the owners are at Newcastle so we decided to go. He may be a little bit out of his depth but I think he'll run well," the Tamworth trainer said.
Morgan will have one horse line up in Saturday's TAB Highway Handicap with chestnut gelding Brave Enough.
It will be four-year-old's second start on the trot in Newcastle, something Morgan often does with his highway horses.
"I like to give them a provincial run, it's a terrific lead up," he said.
That lead-up run over 1250m at Newcastle saw Brave Enough close out the race strongly to finish 2.31 lengths of the winner in seventh.
And the extra 50 metres this weekend will benefit the gelding.
"He drops four kilograms and has been set for the race," Morgan said of Brave Enough who will be ridden by Andrew Gibbons.
"The barrier is a little off-putting, drawing 17, but he's ready to go and I think he's a terrific top three chance.
"He gets back anyway so it's not a major issue. If he'd drawn well, we'd ride him more positive but that's not the case."
Cody Morgan also has two runners nominated for Saturday's Inverell meeting.
Both horses - Arcane Energy and Outback Pat - are unraced. It looks like staying that way for Outback Pat who is likely to be scratched but Arcane Energy is expected to race in the opener - the Laser Plumbing Maiden Handicap.
