TAMWORTH roads have dried out during sunny weekend weather, allowing the region's closed roads to reopen.

Burgmanns Lane had reopened to traffic by Monday morning, after it was closed off last Monday.
The road was blocked to traffic due to water from Goonoo Goonoo Creek flooding the main causeway.

Despite the closure, emergency services had to respond to two separate rescues after two people tried to drive their utes through the floodwater just days apart.
Both were swept downstream of Burgmanns Lane by the force of the water.
Tamworth Regional Council confirmed the road is now safe to drive along, after the water subsided.
Ongoing rainfall recently caused the road to remain closed for a week as water gushed down Goonoo Goonoo Creek and over Burgmanns Lane.
No other roads in the Tamworth area were closed during the rain event, though water was covering some intersections and lapping at other local thoroughfares.
Gap Road, near Werris Creek, was closed for flooding after the rain, but reopened last week.
