A COUPLE who police claimed were at the centre of a Gunnedah drug dealing ring have escaped prison.

Rikki May Lea Stranlund and Peter Joseph Lennan both garnered 25 per cent discounts for their early guilty pleas for drug supply.
The couple - who had previously been banned from living with another by a court - were sentenced in Tamworth District Court 18 months on from their arrests in Gunnedah.
Stranlund was sentenced for two counts of supplying drugs on an ongoing basis - a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment.

Acting Judge Jonathan Williams imposed an aggregate jail sentence of two-years-and-six-months, but she won't serve a day in custody.
Judge Williams ordered the sentence to be served by way of an intensive corrections order (ICO), or jail term in the community.
As part of the orders, Stranlund must be supervised by Community Corrections' in Gunnedah and will have to carry out 300 hours of community service work.
Lennan admitted to one count of taking part in the supply of more than an indictable quantity of drugs.
Judge Williams imposed a Community Correction Order (CCO), or a good behaviour bond, for 18 months, but ordered Lennan be subject to high-level supervision meaning he will have to report to Community Corrections' officers every fortnight.
Judge Williams made the order after a sentencing assessment report, or background report by authorities, was tendered in court to ensure he continues "managing his environment, adopting a pro-social lifestyle and managing his impulsivity".
He also has to undergo health programs and must submit to regular drug testing.
Police had claimed Stranlund and Lennan - who were arrested in February 2019 - were involved in the supply of methylamphetamine in Gunnedah in late-2018.
Ten men and women were charged by police as part of Strike Force Munderah. It was a six-month secret operation by Oxley detectives that unfolded in February 2019 with a raid on a home in Baker Street, Gunnedah.
It was set up by police to home in on those behind the supply of drugs and firearms in the Gunnedah area.
