Maddison Bower and Neville John White refused bail after arrest on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth | Operation Southbreak

Maddison Bower, 23, appeared in Tamworth Local Court on Friday, just a day after she was arrested at a Goonoo Goonoo Road home on 14 charges.

Co-accused 38-year-old Neville John White also appeared in court, after he was captured near the home after a foot chase by police.

The pair are the latest arrests as part of Operation Southbreak which has been targeting property crime across Tamworth.

Bower is accused of stealing property in a house; break-and-enter with intent to steal; contravening an AVO; possessing drugs and a weapon; five counts of suspected stolen goods in custody; custody of a knife; using offensive language; and making a false or misleading statement.

She was not required to enter pleas to the charges on Friday but her bid for release was denied.

Magistrate Julie Soars refused the 23-year-old bail, finding she was an unacceptable risk of committing a further offence, and endangering the safety of the community.

The court heard it would be the accused's first time in custody.

Ms Soars has ordered the case to return to court later this month, with Bower to be taken to a women's correctional centre in the interim.

White is facing charges of possessing prohibited drugs and trespassing, as well as breach of bail, and was still in custody on Friday.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and police will now compile a brief of evidence into the case before it returns to court in December.

Operation Southbreak moved on the pair after investigations into a break-in at a home in Camira Crescent in Hillvue on October 12.

Police allege jewellery items were stolen from the home.

The pair were questioned by police and charged, and spent the night in custody before Friday's court appearance.

Police said investigations by Operation Southbreak are continuing.
