It seems simple, even innate, but nine out of 10 of us apparently haven't got it right.
Breathwork coach Brady Walker wants to teach people how to quiet their nervous-system with adjustments to something we've all been doing since we were born.
"We're very busy in our lives, but to understand the impact of stress in our bodies and how that plays out in our systems is different," he said.
"We hold a lot of things in our body and conscious brain, but it's allowing the body and mind permission to slow instead of throwing another ball into the juggling act."
Mr Walker got into breathwork about five years ago after a personal experience in the US.
There are a number of different types of breathwork practice, but it refers to exercises used to manipulate the breathing rate and depth to bring awareness or a meditative state.
The difference between breathwork and traditional meditation is that it allows the person to drop into a deeper state, Mr Walker said.
"Statistically nine out of 10 of us breathe with dysfunction," he said.

"If you wonder what else is out there, you feel disconnected from things and in the rush of the day-to-day, this will give you the quiet in your body to feel refreshed and reset."
