In the aftermath of what was a grand final masterclass from his talented side, Pirates women's 7s co-coach Anthony Barbara said they have been "blessed" with the group they have had this season.

Beaten grand finalists last year (in the Central North competition) the minor premiers were simply brilliant in Saturday's decider thrashing Glen Innes 24-5 and 26-5 to make in a winning debut in the New England competition and claim the club's first ever women's 7s title.
The best team all year Barbara couldn't have been happier with the way they finished off the season.

"They went to another level today," he said.
"I guess big moments bring the best out in people and for our team to step up like that and a collective performance like that is huge for our girls."
It was collectively the best performance he's seen from them in 2020.
They really gelled and played to their strengths, and were "clinical from the get-go".
Rosie Ferguson set the tone when she stepped around two Glen Innes defenders to score in just the second minute of the first game. Jacinta Cooper a couple of minutes later streaked away after a nice wrap around play and from there it was pretty much one-way traffic.
"I think they just really wanted it today and it really showed," Barbara said.
He said the result was a credit to all the hard work they have put in throughout the season and spoke of how pleasing it has been to see the way as a group they have learnt from each other and developed, and grown over the season.
"And I hope some of those girls can go on to bigger and better things because I think they're more than capable," he said.
