Green Councillor Carol Sparks has been reelected as Mayor of Glen Innes, with the council to retain an all-woman leadership team.

Cr Sparks, who won election in 2016 as a Councillor for the Greens, was elected mayor of the Glen Innes Severn Council in 2018.
She was re-elected in a contest with Councillor Jeff Smith on Thursday night, winning four votes to three.
Cr Dianne Newman was re-elected Deputy Mayor at Thursday's Extraordinary Council Meeting over former Glen Innes Mayor Steve Toms four votes to three.

Cr Sparks will now serve until after next year's local government elections.
Asked if she would run again, Cr Sparks said "I haven't decided fully" to stand for election again.
"I would like to still to see still more women on council so I'll be encouraging women to stand for the next council elections. And depending on how the community feels I'll leave my decision for what I'm going to do for further down the track."
She identified emissions reductions, water issues, completing new sporting facilities and above all winning better mobile phone communications in regional areas as priorities for her second term as mayor.
