It's not quite a strike, but a group of school students will on Friday rally in Tamworth to tell governments to abandon a mooted 'gas-fired recovery' from COVID-19.

Friday is set to be a global day of action against subsidised gas development.
Tamworth's Parents and Friends for Climate Action co-founder Helen Cameron said they will be asking government not to sign off on the controversial Narrabri Gas Project.

The $3.6 billion scheme, which is currently before the NSW Independent Planning Commission, will get a final determination by the end of the month.
"Here in Tamworth we're asking for a clear national climate policy which has a net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050, as called for by the science," she said.
"Along with a thorough plan across all sectors to a decarbonised society."
The group will hold two separate socially distanced protests, at 10am at Hopscotch Cafe and 1pm at the Golden Guitar.
Ms Cameron said participants would hold up a sign that said 'fund our future, not gas'.
"I guess we're wanting to draw direct evidence that people in regional areas do care about climate action. And we are requesting our leaders to not forget the regional voice and to act on our path."
The group held a rally of 200 in February for an earlier day of action.
