Doring admitted he didn't know what to expect at the tournament's player draft night in the Ken Chillingworth Room at Wests on Friday night, but was impressed and excited by the drama and intrigue in selecting the four sides.
He was extremely delighted to be able to snare Werris Creek star Harlee Millgate as his first pick and then add the likes of try-scoring Gunnedah centre Aaron Donnelly, versatile goal-kicking back Abel Carney and Boggabri hooker Matt Gillham.
"Matt's one of the best hookers around," Doring said of the Roos star he played with in the Group 4 and Greater Northern representative sides.
"Can't wait to get out there," he added.
Doring will keep his JT Fossey 9's game plan "simple".
"We haven't got a big side," he said, adding that he has "mobile forwards".
They include Shannon Swan (Moree), Zack Leonard (Werris Creek), Zach Hatch (Kootingal-Moonbi) and Dwight Millgate (Werris Creek).
Doring's young guns include Kobe Bone and Liam Ball (North Tamworth) and Liam Ireland (Gunnedah).
