Craig Martin might give Tavion Prince a deserving break after the Tamworth gelding outstayed his rivals to win Friday's $32,000 Tuncurry Forster XXXX Gold Cup (2100m).

The five-year-old son of Tavistock had won a Highway Handicap at Rosehill two starts back over 1800m and wasn't far away when fourth to fellow Tamworth gelding Kacper Boy (Jane Clement) at Gosford last time out.
He's now won four of his 17 starts for his Tamworth syndicate whilst breaking through the $100,000 prizemoney barrier.

Andrew Gibbons piloted the gelding perfectly taking over before the turn and then fighting off any challenge with a surging run to the line. Reposition was second and Warren Gavenlock's Ambitious Prince was a good third.
"A very good effort," Martin told Sky Thoroughbred Racing's Gary Kliese of Tavion Prince's impressive win.
"I wasn't worried when he hit the front so early I knew he'd keep going. He'll run 2400m on his ear."
Martin is considering "giving him five weeks off".
"We've tossed around a few ideas," he said.
"He won the Highway well, that was a bonus so he's done more than enough. We'll give him a break."
He is hoping he might contest some good Cup races later this year and next with the Grafton Cup a possibility.
"He's a dead set stayer," the Tamworth horseman said.
