Cameron Tomasetti appears in Tamworth court on drug supply charges after drug seizure in car stop on Oxley Highway at Bective

Cameron Tomasetti is facing allegations he supplied MDMA and cannabis after he was intercepted by police in between Tamworth and Gunnedah more than two months ago.

The 31-year-old appeared in Tamworth Local Court on Monday for the first time after his arrest on June 10, where police uncovered what they allege was almost 200 MDMA pills and 1.5kg of cannabis.

Oxley police intercepted the red Holden Commodore on the Oxley Highway at Bective about 5.25pm on the day in question, and pulled the car over for a random breath test.

The 31-year-old driver passed the test but after speaking to him, and carrying out further police checks, they decided to search the car.

That's when police claim they found the stash of drugs. Tomasetti was arrested and taken to Tamworth police station where he was questioned and later charged. He's been on conditional bail since.

Tomasetti's facing charges of supplying more than an indictable quantity of cannabis and MDMA; and two counts of possession for the drugs seized.

He has pleaded not guilty to one count of domestic violence-related common assault.

Magistrate Julie Soars set the charge down for hearing in December, with the brief to be served by mid-November.

In court on Monday, Tomasettie's solicitor Peter Schmidt applied to vary his bail conditions.

As part of his new bail conditions, he will have to report to police once-a-week; live in Oxley Vale; comply with the conditions of an AVO; follow all doctors orders; and must not commit any further offences.
