Emergency crews found the body of the person, who is yet to be formally identified, inside the burnt home at Merriwa on Wednesday.
It came after firefighters were called to a rural property on Mountain Station Road about 9.15am after reports that a house was engulfed in flames.
Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW teams spent several hours putting out the blaze.

The body of a person was found inside the home after the fire was extinguished.
Police would not confirm on Wednesday afternoon whether the body belonged to a man or woman.
Investigators said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
