Zeb Levi Nye faced sentencing in Tamworth Local Court but won't be released from prison until November after being jailed for assault charges.
He appeared via video link in court where magistrate Julie Soars placed him on a Community Corrections Order (CCO) for 12 months for two counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol. He'll have to be supervised for the duration of the bond.
Nye pleaded guilty in June to the charges, along with eight other firearm and drug offences. He was convicted of the other charges without further penalty.

He was also jailed for an aggregate sentence of 18 months for two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
In sentencing, Ms Soars ordered Nye spend at least 10 months behind bars. After time served, he'll be eligible for parole in November.
The 30-year-old was also put on an additional bond for 15 months for destroying or damaging property.
Nye was accused of a series of sexual assaults on one woman at a Manilla home in the early hours of November 7. Police arrested him about three hours after being notified of the allegations.
The sex abuse charges were dropped against him in court in June.
The weapons - which police maintained were gel firearms - were seized at the crime scene in Manilla by police at the time.
Gel firearms are prohibited weapons due to their similarities to military weapons, the court has previously heard.
In June, a Tamworth magistrate made an order that all weapons and goods be forfeited to the Crown, after Nye's pleas.
