A MAN who was extradited from Queensland has pleaded not guilty to four charges related to a spate of rural thefts at Mungindi last year.

Daniel Jones, 32, fronted Inverell Local Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to stealing a vehicle; not stopping in a police pursuit; driving disqualified; and possessing property stolen outside of NSW.
He made no application for bail and it was formally refused by magistrate Roger Prowse. Jones' case will return in September.
Jones was extradited from Queensland after an investigation into rural theft offences in Mungindi last year.
In April 2019, officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team at Moree launched Strike Force Wheaton in conjunction with Queensland police officers after offences on numerous rural properties near the NSW and Queensland border.
New England Police District and Darling Downs District officers attended an address near Inglewood in May last year, where he tried to flee from police through a paddock.
He was arrested after a short struggle and taken to Warwick Watch House where he was charged with six counts of entering premises and committing an indictable offence; and one count each of trespassing; stealing; possessing dangerous drugs; and obstructing police.

An application for Jones' extradition was granted on Wednesday by the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
NSW State Rural Crime Coordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said this arrest should serve as a warning to others that borders won't stop police.
