Tamworth Regional Council entertainment venues set to host live shows from September

Tamworth Regional Council entertainment venues manager Peter Ross confirmed on Monday scheduled shows will take the stage from September.

The plan allows productions to be moved between venues to adhere to social distancing.

Mr Ross said the intimate seating of the Capitol Theatre can be replicated in the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC) if necessary.

"Regardless of whether the current restrictions remain or are lifted we can confidently assure people that our events will be proceeding for the rest of 2020," he said.

A packed program of musical and theatrical events have already been locked in for this year.

This includes musical numbers like The Rock Show Oz Edition and Damien Leith, along with live events like Magic Beach, the Len Waters Cultural Spectacular, Les Divas: All-Male Revue and Tamworth City Dance Academy's The Eternity.

Mr Ross said welcoming back acts is exciting for promoters, audiences, organisers and performers.

"I think people are really looking forward to getting out to be entertained with live performance after such an intense four month period of restrictions," he said.

A strict COVID-safe plan is in place, and a new ticketing system at the Capitol Theatre means an automatic 'bubble' can be made around a seat, to ensure social distancing.

Ticket-holders will be contacted about their venue about a week prior to a show, so the most up-to-date guidelines and health orders can be followed.
