Morgan, who is recovering from a leg fracture, prepares Yulong Base, a four-year-old gelding son of US sire Scat Daddy.
Yulong Base was piloted to a breakthrough win by Newcastle jockey Andrew Gibbons in the $45,000 Corbett Earthmoving P/L The Big Maiden (1200m).

Gibbons, who claimed a double the previous day at Grafton (the Ramornie Handicap day), was at his best and followed instructions from Morgan, a former star apprentice jockey himself, to the letter.
"A 10 out of 10 ride," Morgan said in his post-race interview on Sky Thoroughbred Central.
Everything Morgan had asked Gibbons to do, the Novocastrian followed perfectly.
And when Gibbons peeled out in the straight, the gelding - winless at his previous four starts but with two seconds and two thirds - charged to his maiden win.
"That was really good," Morgan said of a win where his horse carried 60.5kg (the topweight) and had drawn barrier nine.
"He's a really nice horse," Morgan said. "Real happy to get a win here today."
