Moving meetings online when the COVID-19 pandemic hit hasn't been all bad news for the Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club.

Going digital meant the club could reach more members and it also meant speakers could dial in from anywhere.
"We have members all over. One's stranded in New Zealand, there's a few members in Armidale - they've got a club too but they zoom in. Tenterfield as well," Mr Cooper said.
"We're picking up a wider audience. It's great in that way.

"There's another big plus. We've been a part of the Argus 2 project. We've been helping the UK department of defence with that and the guys from the UK has been zooming into our meetings."
Another speaker coming up is Padma Yanamandra-Fisher.
The astrophysicist will be joining in on the club's July 4 meeting from the US.
"She's pretty well known in the Pro-Am stuff and Public Outreach. She works as a senior research scientist with the US space science institute," Mr Cooper said.
