MEMBERS of the Tamworth Trekkers walking group rugged up and braved a cold morning for their first catch-up as a group since the COVID-19 shutdown.

About 13 people turned up at Bicentennial Park on Tuesday morning, for their first walk together as a group in more than three months.
They'll be back at it again on Thursday morning.
Organiser Robyn Barton said numbers were slightly down due to the cold weather, but everyone was happy to see each other after isolation.

"It was so nice to catch up with everyone ... it was nice to get back to some sort of normality," she said.
The Tamworth Trekkers are the local Heart Foundation walking group. Ms Barton said the group meets up and walks together twice per week, to maintain physical and mental health.
The group usually meets every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year, and walk different routes around Tamworth - like the river bank or King George V Avenue.
They leave the meeting point - Bicentennial Park at the end of White Street - at 9am in the winter months.
"We walked along the river ... and back down along Peel Street, everyone spreads out and goes at their own pace," she said.
She said it helps the group maintain strict social distancing guidelines.
Mrs Barton said anyone is welcome to join the Tamworth Trekkers and the best way to get involved is to head to the Heart Foundation website and search for the 2340 postcode.
More than 1200 Heart Foundation walking groups exist across Australia. The organisation is trying to boost numbers of walkers in regional areas to help combat heart disease.
