A dearth of volunteers could result in junior rugby league competitions not launching this year, warns Group 4 Junior Rugby League president Peter Lennox.

With junior community sport allowed to resume in NSW on July 1, Group 4 met on Friday to discuss competitions resuming in Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Wee Waa.

"We want to go ahead [and have a season]," Lennox said.
He added: "The major part is volunteers: that's our biggest issue.
"Every club's got the same problem.
"Parents just aren't getting up and volunteering.
"And we need that to happen now and into the future."
Lennox said clubs were also worried about making enough canteen revenue during COVID-19 to make playing financially viable.
