The Tamworth CBD will get a facelift thanks to upgrades to four roads fast-tracked by the NSW government as part of an economic stimulus package.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said a $718,000 injection of stimulus funding would allow Transport for NSW to start construction on projects earlier than scheduled.
Upgrades on Manilla Road, Darling Street and Marius Street have all been fast-tracked and should be completed within a fortnight, he said.

Armidale Road, which forms part of the the New England Highway, will also get a touch-up between Dayal and Tiki streets.
"Improving road surfaces in these high traffic areas will help reduce future maintenance costs and improve conditions for cyclists, while at the same time supporting local jobs and businesses," he said.
"I will continue to beat the drum down in Parliament for this region, to get money flowing back into our towns and pump-priming our local businesses."
Mr Anderson said the funding announcement was "great news for Tamworth's motorists".
The money will mean resurfacing for Manilla Road between Tribe and Johnston streets, Darling Street between Marius and Peel streets and Marius Street between Brisbane and Darling streets,
Tamworth Regional Council crews will construct the upgrade on weeknights from 7pm to 6am.
