Guyra supermarket ram raid: Michael Booby granted bail ahead of trial for Spar Supermarket ram raid

Michael Booby has been in custody since his arrest in Armidale in March, 2019. His alleged crime spree involved two break-ins, three stolen cars, the ram-raid of a small supermarket in Guyra and a failure to pay for fuel at the Black Mountain Roadhouse.

All jury trials are currently prohibited in most NSW District Courts because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Booby was due to stand trial, but Judge Warwick Hunt granted him bail, ordering him back to court in Armidale in September where his charges will be mentioned again.

He's denied charges of aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence while people are there; larceny; riding in a stolen car; break, enter and steal; and break-and-enter with intent.

Booby stands accused of one count of aggravated break-and-enter on a Gordon Street home the night of March 16, 2019, while the residents were home, after which a white Toyota Camry and black Mazda sedan were stolen.

He's also facing a charge of break-and-enter at a McCarthy Crescent home the same night, after which an Audi SUV was taken.

He then faces an additional charge of break-and-enter with intent, accused of the ram-raid of the Guyra supermarket, in the main street, about 7.15am on March 17.

As part of his bail, Booby must report to police in Armidale daily; and submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

He's banned from drinking alcohol or entering any premises where it is sold; and must not take any drugs.

He's bailed to live in Armidale under an overnight curfew; is prohibited from contacting a list of people or witnesses in the case; and must not commit any offences.
