And as such, perhaps no teams wants the season to commence more than the Boggabri Kangaroos.
After two seasons in the top grade, and two wooden spoons, the Roos believe that 2020 would be their year to shine.

"I said when I first took the job on it would probably only take us three years to be really competitive," Roos coach Shane Rampling said.
"And I thought that this year we would not just make up the numbers but be real super competitive."
He added: "If there is a way the Group could play, it would be great ... But obviously your health is more important than anything."
If the green light were given, Rampling said the addition of Moree to the competition this year would result in a "very competitive" ladder duel.
The Roos were unlucky not to finish higher on the ladder last year.
On Tuesday, Group 4 deferred making a decision on whether to proceed with or cancel the season until receiving more information from the NSWRL.
It is hoped that that decision will be made by June 12, said Group 4 chairman Ray McCoy.
