Earlier this morning, the driver attempted to sneak under the low clearance sign near Viaduct Park but quickly found out it wasn't to be.
The vehicle didn't appear to hit the rail bridge which has a clearance level of 3.3 metres.
The road was blocked for some time this morning but has now reopened after Tamworth council's regional services team cleared the road.
