Jane Clement is aiming two of her stable's horses for the same race at Muswellbrook

But that's the case on Friday when the Bendemeer-based trainer aims to saddle up Elle's Nel and He's Our Toy Boy in the Mangoola Coal BM58 Handicap at Muswellbrook.

"I try not to but there's not enough races to suit every horse so sometimes you have to put them together," Clement said.

While the match-up isn't locked in yet - He's Our Toy Boy is the first emergency for the 14-horse field - Clement is hopeful of a scratching.

"You never know. Being first emergency there's probably a 50 per cent chance [of getting a start]," she said.

Elle's Nel will go into the race having last claimed victory at Coffs Harbour at the end of 2019.

That was the mare's third career victory and Clement said Elle's Nel will have to overcome a couple hurdles to win again.

"She's just a frustrating horse who gets back," Clement said.

"We tried her over 1400 at Muswellbrook on a wet track and I don't think it really suited her.

"She gets back so far she has to find some luck.

"Plus she's one of those horses who's had about 20 starts and has drawn double figure barriers for 80 per cent of them."

Elle's Nel won't need to worry about a bad barrier after drawing seven.

If He's Our Toy Boy gains a start, he'll be further out in barrier 12.

Clement first raced the eight-year-old in June last year after the gelding previously had raced with Paul Perry's stable.

"He's won a few races for me. He's been a good horse. Won the Mendooran Cup and a TAB race at Scone," she said.

Clement will take a third horse to Muswellbrook with in Skull Cap who will race in the Horsepower Maiden Handicap.

"It will be an experience for him. I think he'll be alright but he needs a bit more ground than the 1280m," Clement said.

"He's probably looking for a mile and he's only a three year old but has the brain of an 18-month old.

"He's got a few funny quirks at home. He's a bit naughty but has gotten better after his last prep."
